Volunteer

Be Part of the Magic.

FoCo Fringe runs on community energy — and that means people like you. Volunteers are the heartbeat of the festival: welcoming audiences, supporting artists, and making sure the whole beautiful chaos runs smoothly.

Why Join the Crew?

🎭 Be in the Room

The Fringe is multiple days of bold, unexpected, one-of-a-kind performance. As a volunteer, you’re not just watching it happen — you’re making it happen.

🤝 Meet Your People

Artists, performers, audience members, and fellow volunteers — the Fringe draws Fort Collins’ most creative and curious crowd. Your people are here.

🌱 Build Real Skills

Whether you’re new to festival production or a pro, there’s something to learn. Front-of-house operations, audience management, box office & more.

The Perks

Volunteers have the opportunity to earn a Fringe button, opportunities to see shows for free and get to sport an exclusive volunteer tee.

We have volunteer roles ranging from hours to days, supporting our audiences, venues, and artists to make the magic happen. Please join us!

Here’s how you can help!

  • Venue Host / Front of House Manager

Venue Hosts are assigned to one FoCo Fringe venue for the full duration of the festival — your home base for four days. You’ll coordinate the volunteer team at your venue, welcome audiences, manage ticket check-in and sales, and make sure everything runs on time and on point. This is a leadership role that requires reliability and a calm head under pressure.

Time Commitment: Full festival commitment (June 11 – 14, 2026) — multiple shifts across all 3-4 days

Great For: Experienced event volunteers, natural leaders, theater-goers who want to go deeper

  • Billeter (Host a Touring Artist)

Out-of-town artists travel from across the country — and sometimes around the globe — to perform at FoCo Fringe. As a Billeter, you’ll provide lodging and a welcoming home base for a touring performer, helping make their participation possible and their experience in Fort Collins memorable. In return, you’ll receive festival entry for the duration of the event.

Time Commitment: Pre-arranged lodging during festival week

Great For: Welcoming hosts with a spare room and a love of the arts

  • Festival Guide

Festival Guides are ambassadors — out in Old Town, at venues, and anywhere audiences gather. You’ll answer questions, hand out flyers/postcards, point people toward shows, and generally spread the Fringe fun. If you love talking to people and know how to get someone excited about something, this is your role.

Time Commitment: Flexible shifts during festival week

Great For: Community connectors, local enthusiasts, people who love Fort Collins

  • Box Office / Front of House Assistant

You’re the go-to at the box office — helping audiences purchase tickets, answering questions, managing will-call, and keeping lines moving. Detail-oriented and friendly is the winning combo here.

You’ll be assigned to our central box office or a specific venue. Training before the festival on our ticket software and app is essential.

Time Commitment: 2–3 shifts during festival week

Great For: Organized folks who stay cool when it’s busy

  • Venue Technician

Venue Technicians manage all the technical and logistical aspects of their assigned venue — show scheduling, technical setup, and venue operations for the full festival. Technicians work in pairs and are assigned to a single venue that hosts up to 8 different shows, each with 3 performances across the 3-day festival run. You’ll report directly to the Festival Production Manager/Technical Director.

This is a skilled, high-responsibility role. Prior experience with live event tech or stage management is a plus.

Time Commitment: Full festival commitment (June 11 – 14, 2026) — all 3-4 days at your assigned venue

Great For: Technical theater folks, stage managers, AV/production professionals

  • Usher

As an Usher, your focus is making sure every audience member has a great experience from the moment they walk in. You’ll greet patrons, distribute programs, scan tickets at the door, help guests with mobility needs find their seats, and keep lobbies and seating areas tidy. Ushers may also be stationed inside the theater during performances to assist patrons as needed.

Usher shifts are two hours long and usually begin 30-45 minutes before showtime. We strongly encourage ushers to volunteer for multiple back-to-back shifts — it makes a huge difference for your Venue Host and keeps the experience consistent for audiences.

Ushers are required to attend volunteer training before the festival and sign up for specific shifts in advance.

Time Commitment: 1–3 shifts during festival week (back-to-back encouraged)

Great For: Warm, attentive people who love live performance and audience energy

How it Works

1. Apply to Volunteer

Once you sign up and apply, you’re eligible to sign up for volunteer shifts.

2. Sign up for Volunteer Shifts

Keep an eye out for our shift schedule to be released approximately 30-days before festival.

3. Attend Volunteer Training

The orientation will be informal and cover all the details you need for the role and have fun at the Fringe!

After you sign up for your shifts, all volunteers attend a short orientation before the festival kicks off. We’ll cover venue locations, ticketing, your role, who to contact, and what a shift actually looks like day-to-day. It’s low-key and a great chance to meet the team before things get exciting.

Please note: Volunteer Shifts will be published approximately 30-days before the festival begins. Keep an eye out for an announcement. We may be in touch with you in advance if we have questions or specific opportunities to share with you!
