The Forts We Built And The Things We Did Inside Them

The Forts We Built And The Things We Did Inside Them

My work mostly involves creating sweeping dark ambient compositions that play heavily into the use of space both physically and in the air of the music. I blend active sound design with lulling drones and poetry, as well as an element of live video modulation

The Forts We Built And The Things We Did Inside Them

I'm a 26 year old transfemme experimental multimedia artist living in Denver, though I'm originally from Dallas, Texas. I'm inspired a lot by the sounds that surround us constantly, and by artists like Harold Budd and Brian Eno, as well as bands like Sunn O)). A constantly present theme in my work is the juxtaposition between the burning anger I so often feel towards the world, paired with the hopelessness to do anything outside our sphere of influence, and this often shows in the blend of thematic intensity and musical softness found in my work, but is probably most apparent in the drastic shifts from gentle to all consuming in the compositions that I create. Most of my time outside of making music and writing poetry is spent helping to run an arts non-profit/music venue/gallery space in Denver called Solid State Arts, as it is my goal in life to dedicate myself as much as possible to being the change I want to see and creating the creative influence I longed for in my youth.
